Jazz festival trip tip…by Ray & Jan Pierce
As you make your summer plans we suggest the Elkhart (IN) Jazz Festival on June 22-24. It's just a few hours from Peoria, and what a weekend! It features 7 stages and a variety of great jazz music. Friday starts at 5:00 pm in the plaza and the other locations within a few blocks feature music until midnight. Sunday features a local gospel church choir at 10:00 am and the other locations have music until 4:30 pm.
A weekend pass is available, or you may buy tickets in advance or at the festival for each of the four sessions. The street is blocked in the center of town for one of the stages, and shows at that stage are free and there are several food vendors nearby as well as restaurants. Parking is free and plentiful and all venues are within walking distance.
