| Tom Becker started playing professionally in 1963 with different groups in Bloomington, IL. From 1965 to 1967 he was with the Miami based big band, Wayne Cochran and the C.C. Riders. This was a rhythm and blues show that performed jazz standards. They performed at such places as the Apollo, Regal and Royal Theaters. They backed such artists as Ben E. King, Sam and Dave, Tammi Tarrell, Jackie Wilson and The Dirfters. They also appeared on the Jackie Gleason and Mike Douglas shows, and backed Marth Reeves for a period.Tom then returned to college for 6 years in piano performance and studied with Greg Nagode, Ron Elliston and Wilfred Adler, independently. In 1976, he married and decided to make music his second love and returned to Central Illinois to become a farmer by day and pianist by night. Currently he's with a quartet with Dr Bob McEntyre - drums, Trevor Mason - bass, and Jim Boitos - sax, and of course, with Tom on the piano.
My new trio = The Real Jazz Trio with Eric Binder, drums; Todd Gallager, double bass. |
