| | Education: I attended High School in Winchester, KY until 2004 when I left to attend Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, IL. I am currently studying saxophone with Dr. Sam Fagaly and pursuing degrees in Jazz Studies and Theory/ Composition.
Groups: I lead an up and coming group in Lexington, KY called the Josh Marcus Quartet. I also lead a trio here in Charleston. I am an active member in the EIU Jazz Ensemble and Prestige Sextet. I play piano for the Kyle Slemmer Quartet.
Playing experience: In addition to performance with the groups listed above, I performed briefly in New Mexico when I was much younger. I started playing drums when I was 8 years old and began playing saxophone at 11. I am versatile in virtually any style of music. This summer, I traveled around Italy and played briefly with the Gypsy Jazz group "Oncle Archibald" led by Italian guitarist Massimo Valvisore and with American guitarist Willie O'Teri. I also recently had the opportunity to perform with saxophonist Steve Wilson. |
