Biography
Bill Is Professor of Music at Illinois State University where he teaches applied double bass, string methods/pedagogy, graduate courses in music education including psychology of music, and improvisation. Dr. Koehler has performed in England, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Russia, Belo-Russia, Puerto Rico, and throughout the U.S. He has performed in numerous Orchestras in his native New York City, the southeast, the Midwest, performed on numerous TV commercials and films, and performed with notable jazz and improvising musicians such as Sam Brown, Joe Tekula, Harold Seletsky, John Clark, Joe Morello, John Campbell, Carl Fontana, Dave Burrell, Jimmy Guiffre, Richard Davis, John Clayton, Rufus Reed, David Baker, Harvey Phillips, Marvin Stamm, Turk Van Lake, and Nashville country music producer Byron Gallimore. He has a Solo Bass CD, entitled 'Glimpse' featuring original compositions in jazz, and world fusion idioms, as well as classical pieces for unaccompanied solo bass. He has a CD entitles 'Journey 2Gether of original music for bass and tabla ( with tabla virtuoso Man Preet Bedi). December 2010 release of CD ' SYZYGY' with Sonic Exploration Society with Manpreet Bedi, David Vayo, Bob McEntrye, Carlos Avayla, John Hill.
