Biography
Saxophonist Doug Daniels, now living in Chicago, is originally from Peoria, IL. His professional music career began in the early 1990's as a sideman backing the best singers and instrumentalists throughout the considerable central Illinois music scene. It was during these years he gained valuable experience in various musical styles while performing with jazz singers such as Judy Page, Gaile Thomas, with Blues guitarist/vocalists Dave Chastain, Emmitt "Maestro" Sanders, and playing in bands led by Rockin' Billy Gress, ,"Boomer" Mike Means, Dave Scott Jr., Mike Nellas, Alvin Butler, Andre Howard, and many others. Daniels is also a member of Scott Ligon and the Ligonaires which obtained a loyal following during the early 2000's while holding a weekly house gig at the Red Barn in Peoria. In 1997, Daniels joined West Side Chicago Blues legend Eddie King's band, The Swampbees. Working for Eddie, Doug toured for 6 years both nationally and internationally, performing in cities such as Paris, NY Greenwich Village, Barcelona, Santander, Mao' Menorca, Moscow, Istanbul, Ankara, St. Petersburg, and many other unlikely places. Daniels now performs tenor and/or alto saxophone with bands The Soulsliders, The Matt Young Group, Joe Metzka, Johnny and Coax, and others, and is often a member of Larry Bowen's horn sections backing acts in Chicago such as the O'Jays at Grant Park, and The Dells in the Arie Crown Theater.
