| IN MEMORIAM: Rachael passed away October 13, 2012..
Jazz aficionados from around the world are familiar with the name Rachael Lee. She has toured extensively throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico sharing the stage and opening for such luminaries as Ray Brown, Miles Davis, Ray Charles, McCoy Tyner and Jack McDuff. After her performance at the Chicago Jazz Festival, Tribune critic Howard Reich said that the performance by jazz vocalist Rachael Lee makes one realize that "singers of this caliber are in short shrift". For 12 years she joined the Ray Bailey Quintet at the After Hours Jazz Series at the Art Institute of Chicago. Ms. Lee was twice asked to perform at the Ashikaga Jazz Festival in Ashikaga, Japan and has been invited back in the summer of 2003. Her stint at the "Lost in the Woods" Fest in Minaki, Ontario spanned 13 years. Along the way her style has been described like this: "She sings so sweet and swings so hard." It's still her style.
