Biography
Originally from Morton, IL, Tim Green is a recording artist on piano and acoustic bass for Seattle-based Origin/OA2 Records (recognized as the 2009 Jazz Label of the Year at the JazzWeek Awards). He has toured extensively and been onstage or recorded alongside such international legends as Ira Sullivan, Von Freeman, Marlene Rosenberg, Ed Petersen, Bill Pierce and many others. His debut CD, Catching Yourself Gracefully, received international attention and quickly made the top 30 on the JazzWeek national chart, where it remained on the for nearly two months before being awarded as one of the top CDs of 2003 year by NPR’s WBEZ in Chicago. Green’s subsequent recordings on Origin/OA2, Jeannie’s Song and Change of Seasons (with Trio Cambia), profile the further development of his individual style as a pianist, bassist and composer. Tim has been called “one of a growing number of young jazz artists who are shaping jazz for the 21st century” by C. Michael Bailey of All About Jazz. Adam Greenberg of All Music Guide describes Tim as “extremely proficient on both instruments.”
