Biography
Greg has been playing trumpet for the past 14 years and ventures into many genres including classical/symphonic, jazz, swing, blues/soul, classic rock, and musical theater. He has studied with many jazz trumpeters throughout the years, including Darryl Thompson, James Davis, and most recently Dave Hoffman. During his college years at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, he played in many ensembles including symphonic bands, jazz bands, the Marching Illini, and Illini Contraband, a local classic-rock/ska/alternative cover band that he directed. He also studied and performed in the university trumpet studio led by Ronald Romm, Michael Ewald, and Jake Walburn. Greg is still fairly new to the Peoria area, having only lived here since July 2010. Since then he has played with a number of different groups in the area, including the Peoria Player's Theater, Peoria Pops Orchestra and Dixie Band, Dave Hoffman & Friends at Two-25, The Soul Gizzards, and other miscellaneous open-jam sessions and small combos. He is also a regular member of the Caterpillar Employee's Big Band that performs at venues around the greater-Peoria area.
